Ponies season 2: Show EP still hopes for future

If you missed the news from earlier today, Peacock has made the shocking decision to cancel Ponies after one season on the air.
Is it hard to digest? Absolutely, especially when you consider the fact that the spy drama starring Haley Lu Richardson and Emilia Clarke had its fair share of fans. It was also loved by critics and when you think about a lot of that, it made sense for it to come back … until the news today arrived. You can argue that maybe Peacock was not the right home, or that it would have fared better in a spot like Netflix or Prime Video with a larger array of successful scripted entities.

So, could it eventually land somewhere else? That remains to be seen, but co-creator David Iserson still has some element of hope. Here is a little of what he had to say per a post on Instagram:
“This is a bold, surprising, stylish television show. Everything beyond that – ratings, algorithms, all of it – is out of my control. I am very lucky to have made something I love … If you watched the show, I am grateful. Please tell others. Not because it helps us, but because I think they will like it too. If you’ve never heard of Ponies, check it out. It’s not like anything else on television.
“Goodbye to Bea and Twila for now … I hope we all get to visit them again.”
Could this happen?
Never say never, but there is a big obstacle at the moment in that Universal Television is one of the producers. Financially, it made a lot of sense for Peacock of all people to keep it, since they would get more internal profits that way. Now, they have to sell the series elsewhere.
