With the Widow’s Bay finale coming on Apple TV in just a matter of days, let’s just go ahead and say the following about season 2: It’s happening!

Today, it was officially confirmed that there is another chapter coming for the hit horror / comedy hybrid starring Matthew Rhys. The hope here is that of course, we are going to see the next version arrive at some point in 2027 … but that remains to be seen.

In a statement per The Hollywood Reporter, here is some of what Matt Cherniss, head of programming for the aforementioned streaming service, had to say:

“From the moment audiences arrived in Widow’s Bay, they’ve been hooked on every eerie mystery, unexpected laughs, and cursed secret that Katie, Hiro, Matthew, and the entire team have created … It’s become one of those shows everyone’s talking about, and we’re thrilled to see audiences continue to embrace it. We can’t wait to return for another season.”

Ultimately, we think it is the uniqueness of this show that really helps it to stand out head and shoulders above most of what is on TV. It is unafraid to take big risks, while at the same time delivering things that stand out from the rest of the pack. Rhys was an inspired cast, and we do think that this show evokes everything from Twin Peaks to Parks and Recreation. (The latter makes a lot of sense given that creator Katie Dippold worked on the Amy Poehler comedy.)

Now, we just have to wait and see if season 1 ends in a cliffhanger…
