Love Island USA drops Vasana before season 8 premiere

Even though the Love Island USA season 8 premiere has yet to arrive over on Peacock, there is one contestant already gone.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Vasana Montgomery has been removed from the past and will not be a part of the show moving forward. It currently remains unclear if any of the season was filmed with her prior to the decision. The decision comes in the wake of two videos surfacing showing the contestant using the n-word, ones the site notes were seemingly private prior to her being cast on the show.

This is not the first time that Love Island USA has taken action against contestants over offensive and hurtful language being used prior to being a part of the series. Last season, two contestants in Yulissa and Cierra were both removed from the show in the midst of it airing. During the broadcasts, there was an abrupt announcement made and that was it. This is something that multiple reality shows are having to contend with, but this one is in a particularly unique situation in that because it films largely in real time, there is an ability to do something and actually deliver consequences for these actions. This is not something that shows that film in advance have the opportunity to do.
The hope is obviously that casting ahs been able to avoid further controversies this season and everything can proceed as the show intended. What these contestants need to realize is that this is the age of social media and that every single thing they do and say can be pulled up at any given time.
