Is James Marsden leaving Your Friends & Neighbors and his role of Owen Ashe? After the events of this week’s installment, let’s just say that we understand anyone out there curious about this very thing. How can you not be at this point? It certainly seems like the guy is dead!

Well, this is where we go ahead and get more into the reality that Marsden’s arc was likely designed from the get-go to have a beginning, middle, and end. The Jon Hamm drama seems to be adopting a fairly classic TV premise of bringing in notable actors for a season-long arc. One of the real purposes of Owen’s appearance on the show was to bring Coop back into the world of finance, regardless of whether or not it was something he wanted. He created some jeopardy for him but in the end, Coop still decided that this was the time to break away — he just did not fully understand the consequences.

So where did the story end off here? Well, that’s pretty simple: With a violent confrontation between Owen, Coop, Barney, and Nick. While there was gunfire, none of the main characters actually ended up being the one who took Ashe down; instead, he did that to himself, slipping amidst a chance and shattering his skull. He was left bleeding out in the closing moments.

The end of Marsden’s arc on Your Friends & Neighbors really seems to be about one thing more than any other — Coop, Barney, and Nick all collectively realizing now that they are into the mess together in a way that they were not before. A lot of season 2 has been about expanding Coop’s operation in a way. How catastrophic will this end up being? It is really a point now where only time will tell.

What did you think about James Marsden’s arc on Your Friends & Neighbors in its totality?
