Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 4 in the works

Even though Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 3 is still months away from premiering over on Prime Video, the powers-that-be are still looking ahead.
After all, consider the latest that has come out via The Hollywood Reporter. The UK-based production team behind the scenes is looking to start pre-production for the fourth season later this year, with the plan being to start up production at some point in 2027. While technically the latest season has yet to be renewed, all signs currently suggest that it will be. Prime Video has all the reason in the world to keep making the show, especially when there were professions about a five-season plan made back at the very start.

In general, we will argue that The Rings of Power season 3 has the potential to be one of the most important ones that we have seen yet, mostly due to the massive war that appears to be at the center of everything here. If you are hugely involved in the show, then you know that you’ve been building towards this for a while. Also, this is the content that many casual Tolkien fans are a little more aware of, largely because we heard a little bit about it during The Fellowship of the Ring.
Ultimately, the producers planning ahead here is likely a move to ensure that season 4 is ready to air at some point moving into 2028. Because this is such a hugely expensive show, planning ahead is a little bit more important here than it would be for some other productions. You want to reduce wait times wherever you possibly can.
