Boston Blue season 2 spoilers: Will there be a time jump?

As we get ourselves prepared to see Boston Blue season 2 launch on CBS this fall, of course there are a lot of different questions to consider. Of course, there is the subject of Danny and Baez’s future, just as there is that cliffhanger that put at least one major character (Brian) in jeopardy.
So will there be a time jump at the start of the new season? This is fairly standard in the TV industry these days, mostly because there is often a desire to keep things close to real time. Yet, you also do not want to be in a situation where you just skip over some of the drama — especially with what we saw with Lena’s love interest.

Speaking to Parade, executive producer Brandon Sonnier does confirm that there will be a time jump for an important reason; however, at the same time the writers are planning to revisit the cliffhanger so that you will be able to get more answers there:
“There will be a time jump when we come back, but we will pick up that story, so we will work through what happened that night … We will work through where they are in the case moving forward, but in order to get Danny and Lena back up on the street, on her feet, we’re going past the leave of absence that Lena had to take in order to physically heal before she gets back on the job.”
In general, our hope remains that we can move forward while also still reflecting on some of what happened at the end of the finale. We would obviously love more answers there and luckily, we tend to think the writers are equally aware of that.
