Criminal Minds: Evolution season 19: Will Reid, Morgan appear?

In just a few days we are going to see the arrival of Criminal Minds: Evolution season 19 over on Paramount+ and with that, of course, comes questions about the past. Are there some familiar faces who will be stepping back into the BAU once more?

Of course, it makes a lot of sense to be wondering about this for a few different reasons, with the biggest one perhaps being tied to the fact that Matthew Gray Gubler turned up last season and because there is such a deep bench of well-loved faces here, of course you would want everyone back at some point.

Unfortunately, in this case it does not appear as though any reunions are coming outside of the current cast. Speaking to TV Insider, here is some of what Criminal Minds: Evolution showrunner Erica Messer had to say on the subject:

“[It’s] kind of a bullet train of a season where, I know it’s 10 episodes, but that doesn’t always even equal 10 weeks of story, right? So we weren’t able to get the stars to align this season to get anybody else from the old days back … But the good news is that means everybody’s busy, which is great.”

So how busy is everyone? Well, Shemar Moore has an upcoming role on the new SWAT Exiles spin-off series. Meanwhile, Gubler will be returning to CBS for a midseason show titled Einstein. We do not think that these parts preclude them from coming back, but doing one-off appearances here is tough given that so much of the current era of the show is about ongoing mysteries. The one-time appearance of Reid last season made sense because it was Will’s funeral and through that, he needed to be there for JJ.
