Boston Blue season 2 premiere date hopes over at CBS

Given that tonight does mark the Boston Blue season 1 finale on CBS, of course it is also the perfect time to talk further about season 2.

What can we say about it at present? Well, for starters, that the network has already ordered the next batch of episodes and you do not have to worry about that. Instead, just shift all of the questions over to when Donnie Wahlberg and the rest of the cast will be back. Just how long will the network keep us waiting?

Well, for now, let’s just say that the likely situation at hand here is that Boston Blue ends up returning either in late September or early October. This is when CBS often starts their fall season and we have a tough time thinking we are going to be seeing anything different here. Meanwhile, an exact date should be revealed at some point over the summer.

In general, we do not think that the Blue Bloods spin-off is going to be out to radically reinvent itself in its second batch of episodes. Odds are, we will see what is effectively a similar story to what we had the first time around with case-of-the-week plots mixed with family gatherings and familiar faces turning up here and there. Our hope is that a few more cast members of the original show do turn up eventually, though there is some value in keeping them quiet for the element of surprise.

The good thing about Boston Blue in general is quite simple: This is a show that could easily last for several seasons without issue. In the end, it will all come down to the ratings.
