NCIS season 23 finale spoilers: Is another big twist coming?

We are now several weeks removed from the death of Leon Vance on NCIS but at the same time, that twist still feels fresh in our head. How can it not? While this franchise has killed major characters before, you get to know them so well! It hits really hard when you have to imagine them gone from this world.

Now if you thought that this was the only major twist we were going to get this season, think again. While it may not be another death, it does appear as though the season 23 finale next week is going to have something big at the core of it. While it remains to be seen just what that will be, rest assured that we are curious already.

Speaking in a recent interview with TV Insider, Jimmy Palmer himself in Brian Dietzen had the following to say about what is ahead:

“This season was a tumultuous one for our show because of the 500th episode, of losing Director Vance … The finale, I got to say, I’m not going to say it’s the same as the 500, but there’s echoes of it. And people are not going to want to miss the last, what, five minutes of this show because it has the potential to change a lot within our universe yet again.”

In theory, this suggests that we could have some sort of cliffhanger — which would not be a shock given that a season 24 has already been greenlit. The remaining question is just what that will look like, and whether or not the remainder of the current cast will be around. For now, let’s just hold out hope…
