As we get ourselves prepared to see the Matlock season 2 finale on CBS in a matter of weeks, we know there are some special events coming. This is going to be a two-hour affair and within that, we are expecting a lot of chaos, some big reveals, and most of all, some opportunities for these characters to move forward.

After all, we have some confirmation now that the big Wellbrexa storyline, the same thing that has been a part of the show from the pilot, is nearing an end.

Speaking on this matter recently to Parade, here is what star Skye P. Marshall had to say:

“You’re getting our answer … The Wellbrexa case is closing at the end of Season 2. There are going to be so many twists and turns, and who you think is involved and not involved is going to send you to the floor. The finale is going to knock you out. Season 3 is a new day.”

Of course, the idea of that excites us since it could serve as a great opportunity for the series to reinvent itself once more. Even if that this is not necessarily something that the show has to do, we still appreciate the opportunity to see it. A series like Matlock, despite it being a pseudo-procedural on network TV, is almost always going to be better when there are some opportunities to reinvent itself. This is one of those shows that has done a far better job doing that than we ever could have anticipated, especially when it comes to being able to circumvent expectations from the very start. Even all the little reveals along the way, starting with Olympia learning Matty’s secret, have made a great deal of sense.
