Doc renewed for season 3 over at Fox; how many episodes?

As we get prepared to see the remainder of Doc season 2 over at Fox, why not go ahead and share more news about season 3?

According to a new report from Deadline, the aforementioned network has greenlit the medical drama for a third batch of episodes. Not only that, but you are going to be seeing 22 stories for the second straight year. While there is no premiere date as of yet, our general feeling is that we are going to be seeing it start off in either September or October.

Speaking per the aforementioned website in a statement, here is what Michael Thorn, President of the Fox Television Network, had to say:

“Doc has become a true breakout for Fox, delivering our largest scripted multi-platform audience of the season and building remarkable momentum across Fox, Hulu, Netflix, and internationally — earning it another 22-episode order … That success is a testament to the exceptional creative leadership of Hank Steinberg and Barbie Kligman, our terrific partners at Sony, and the talented Molly Parker, whose deeply nuanced performance gives the series its soul.”

Now moving forward, we do not think that there is going to be all that much that is altogether different from the first two seasons. This is a show that does have a major story-of-the-week component, but there is a larger story that does tend to course through most of the episodes. We do also think that Fox is happy with the show in its current form, especially with it paired with Best Medicine — another medical show that already has a renewal of its own.
