Outlander season 8 premiere: Sam Heughan on Faith reveal, questions

We knew coming into the Outlander season 8 premiere that there were going to be some huge questions regarding the character of Faith and what truly happened. Is the picture now clear? Or, is everything somehow even more confusing than what it once was at the end of season 7?
Well, the implication of what Jamie and Claire learned in the premiere is that Faith died at sea, a move that quickly prompted Caitriona Balfe’s character to pursue some element of revenge. We’ve learned some news through the story of Jane and Fanny, but there are still some questions. Take the obvious one that if Faith truly lived, why was it kept a secret from her parents? Also, are looking at coincidences rather than facts? While it may seem theoretically that this is the same Faith that Jamie and Claire thought was gone, we also don’t blame anyone who is still confused.

Ultimately, all we can say for now is that the storyline regarding Faith is not done at present, and we know that thanks to the cast members themselves. Speaking on this further to TV Insider, here is some of what Sam Heughan had to say:
“I think there are still a lot of questions around it … And I think there is more to come.” As the actor puts it, “Later on in the season, you’ll see Jamie and Claire go back over it and try and work out more about how this actually happened and whether it’s more than a coincidence.”
In general, we’ll see how things do eventually play out here since the Faith storyline is emotionally important to Jamie and Claire — though we recognize there is a lot else happening, as well. There are only nine episodes left, and there are so many loose ends that need to be tied up.
