Best Medicine renewed early for season 2 on Fox

If you have enjoyed the entirety of Best Medicine season 1 over on Fox, we have great news regarding the future — season 2 is coming!
According to a new report from Deadline, the network is bringing back the Josh Charles medical drama, a remake of the British classic Doc Martin. It will have a twelve-episode second season, one that will air during the 2026-27 season. We are a little surprised by the episode count but at the same time, this may be a way to ensure there is no burnout here.

In a statement, here is what Fox President Michael Thorn had to say about the series coming back:
“Best Medicine quickly became a breakout for us this season, blending sharp humor with real heart … Liz Tuccillo brings a distinctive creative voice to the series, and Josh Charles leads an exceptional cast that audiences have embraced. We, along with Propogate, are excited to build on that momentum in Season Two.”
We will be waiting for at least a little while to see Best Medicine back after this season — with that episode count, it feels like an early 2027 start could be in the works. By virtue of that, do not be surprised at all if we are stuck waiting for exact news until we get close to the end of the fall. That’s a long time to wait, but we do think the wait could be worth it. This is a series that has already shown itself to be charming, escapist, and different from the average series in the genre thanks in part to its tone. We do think it is a world that we would love to be a part of for quite some time, and there is no indication out there that this is just a few-season experiment.
