Is Shailene Woodley leaving Paradise already after Annie shocker?
When it was first revealed that Shailene Woodley would be joining Paradise in the role of Annie, we assumed she’d be around a while. As it turns out, that is not exactly the case! The character has already been killed off, as she died in childbirth while Xavier ended up bringing the baby with him.
So why introduce this character just to kill her off? We tend to think it is twofold. First and foremost, Woodley gave the series more star power and credibility; meanwhile, this baby will serve as a connection between Xavier and Link’s group. We know already that the latter is outside the compound in Colorado, so are they going to be able to go inside?

Speaking to Deadline, Woodley indicated that she was aware of her character’s death long before it happened:
“I knew it was coming. I didn’t know exactly the details of how it would unfold, but I think it’s the greatest joy a human can experience, bringing a child into the world, and then obviously, the greatest pain a human can experience, knowing you’re leaving the world. And I was very supported by the crew and by the cast and by our director in that moment, but it was definitely a ride, and I contemplated a lot on how to just be as honest and truthful to the moment as possible, and what that would look like.”
While it does seem as though the Big Little Lies alum is gone from the show in the present, we are reminded of the fact that dead characters do have a tendency to keep turning up — and if Sinatra is really working on something as crazy as time travel, isn’t there still a chance that she could turn back up even in the present if the timeline changes? We would not rule out anything at this point.
