Paradise season 2 episode 4: The Annie shocker

Given the more-than-rapid pace that a show like Paradise moves at, we knew big things would be coming on season 2 episode 4. Yet, we still did not see coming exactly what happened with Annie.

After all, about midway through this week’s installment, we learned that Shailene Woodley’s character was gone. She died during childbirth, the result of a condition that she expected could take her life. Xavier still whatever she could in order to help her, including finding some help from complete strangers while mid-journey to Atlanta. It still wasn’t enough and yet, Annie did have her baby, and that means that Sterling K. Brown’s character has a new travel companion heading out to Atlanta. It is another driving force to get back to the bunker once he is able to locate his wife Teri.

In talking more about the decision to write out Woodley from the show, we will say this: It is bold and then some. After all, we are talking about a big-name actress who so many would have assumed would be around the show for a far longer stretch of time. Writing her off here signals yet another shift, and also serves as a reminder that this is a series uninterested in wasting time.

While Annie is now gone, Link has now achieved at least one of his goals in making it out to the bunker. He has stood outside the door with a simple message of “Knock Knock,” demanding that he and his group do find their way in. We know that the end goal here is the eradication of Alex but at the same time, it does still remain unclear just who or what Alex is. The easy theory to offer here is that this is some sort of device Sinatra is working on in order to go back in time, mostly to ensure that the crisis never happened in the first place.
