The Pitt season 2 episode 8: Patrick Ball teases Langdon, Robby

As we do get closer to seeing The Pitt season 2 episode 8 on HBO Max later this week, there is a lot that needs to be unpacked. That can of course be said for the hospital, but also for some individual characters — and that brings us to where we are right now for Robby and Langdon.
After all, remember where we find the two of them at the end of this past episode, one where Patrick Ball’s character does his best to apologize, only to then be told that Robby is not even sure he wants him in his ER moving forward. As you would imagine, this creates a rather difficult situation where Langdon still needs to do a job without knowing if he will ever be fully welcomed in the process of doing it. How can you handle that?

Speaking to Esquire, Ball notes that there is more drama and patients to come, but a dynamic that becomes even stranger, given that Dr. Al-Hashimi is trying to support him even if Robby is not:
One thing I haven’t spoken on at all yet is Al-Hashimi. It’s a very interesting dynamic. I’m very curious to see how this shakes out. Because Al-Hashimi has come in and been a different kind of leader than Robby is. She’s come in and shown everybody on this shift that that authority can be held in more than one way. She has gotten a whiff of something being somewhat dysregulated between me and Robby and has sought to be an ally to Langdon through that.
In the doing of it, it creates this very interesting dynamic of: “Look, daddy’s not being fair. He’s being a little abusive, but also there’s a history there and I really appreciate this support, but I don’t want to accidentally end up in a situation where I’m finding myself in an an alliance against Robby. Because as awful as he’s being to me right now, I do know to some degree I deserve it.” There’s a history there, whether it’s healthy or not.
To make matters worse, Robby and Langdon could be forced to communicate more than ever thanks to all tech in the hospital being shut down. Mistakes could be more prevalent, especially if you are not willing to talk to those who are close to you.
