Lord of the Flies episode 2 air date, story ahead on BBC One

Following the premiere today on BBC One, what more can we say when it comes to Lord of the Flies episode 2?
First and foremost, it is worth noting here that it is somewhat shocking that we have not seen an adaptation of this story before on television — sure, you can argue that Yellowjackets took a lot of inspiration from it, but this is the classic story of the book so many people read in grade school. Here is how the network describes it:
Lord of the Flies is the story of schoolboys stranded on a tropical island with no adults, following a deadly plane crash. In an attempt to remain civil they organise themselves, led by Ralph and supported by the group’s intellectual, Piggy. But when Jack becomes more interested in hunting and vying for leadership, he soon begins to draw other boys away from the group and, ultimately, from hope to tragedy.

Given that the story has a clearly defined beginning, middle, and end, we would be surprised if the show veers too far from that over time. Episode 2 is going to arrive next week, and the synopsis below sets the stage for that:
Jack’s determination to kill a pig leads him to neglect other duties, with grave consequences.
We are entering a point in the story now where a lot of other characters’ points of view will start to become more clear, but that does not mean all of them will be useful, helpful, or lead to positive outcomes. In general, it is our sentiment that we are going to be seeing a lot of conflict bubble over here quickly as Jack’s way of doing things starts to have dire consequences to almost everyone involved.
