Next week on BBC One, you are going to be seeing the arrival of Call the Midwife season 15 episode 6 — and how important will this one be?

Well, first and foremost, this is where we do have to issue a reminder that the remainder of the season is perhaps going to be different from much of what we’ve seen. Over the years, the bulk of the changes we get tend to be a little bit subtle. However, we know already that there’s going to be a gap between the end of this chapter and whatever is next with a feature film. Is Nonnatus House even going to exist in its current form? Are some of these characters going to need to transition into different sorts of care? These are things we wonder, but in the immediate future we imagine that the show is going to focus more on the normal things. Take, for example, some of the important work that Trixie and others do with people in need.

In general, it is our hope here that the remaining three episodes of the season will tee up the future of the franchise, but also continue to show more character growth at the same time. With Trixie in particular, we certainly want her to be happy — especially since she has gone through so much over the course of time.
