We will be getting a chance to see what may be in part an origin story, but also a chance to accelerate things the rest of the way. Given that this is an eleven-episode season this story will mark the halfway point; from here on out, everything could escalate and also, we tend to think it will pride itself on being unpredictable. We are dealing with a series here that is effectively about a virus; by virtue of that, we have to move forward with the assumption that almost anyone could die.

Should you be surprised that this is so short? Hardly, since that is the way FX and Hulu have promoted this from the start. Yet, there is a little irony in the fact that this preview could be for an episode of Alien: Earth just as much as it is The Beauty. No matter where the events of this episode go, we still do not think that the writers are going to gravitate much from the show’s overall themes. We recognize that it is rather easy to label this a sci-fi or body-horror show, and in many ways it is; yet, it is also an allegory about power and what a lot of people will look to do to both have it and maintain it.
