The Last of Us season 3: Kaitlyn Dever preparing to film

While we are almost certainly not going to see much of The Last of Us season 3 on HBO this year, there is still good news to report. After all, star Kaitlyn Dever is getting prepared to kick off production for what will be her most extensive role in the story so far.

If you have not heard the news, a big part of the plan coming up here is to go slightly back in time, allowing us to see more of the story through Abby’s point of view. We can’t speak to whether or not anyone will ever like the character after the brutal way that she murdered Joel, but is there room to understand her further? That may at least be something that the producers are looking at right now.

In speaking more about where things stand behind the scenes to Deadline, here is at least some of what Dever had to say:

I’m getting mentally and physically prepped right now. I go up in a couple days, actually, to start prep over there. I’m so excited to kind of take on a much bigger role in the season … The fans are really going to like it, I think, the shifting perspective onto Abby, getting some more context onto her storyline and going back in time with this season. So, I’m very excited for the fans to see it.

Is Bella Ramsey (pictured above) still going to have a role in the story? We do tend to think so, but it will not be as substantial as what we have seen so far. It does seem as though the potential plan is to bring everyone together and tie things up moving into a season 4, so that may be something else to prepare for on the other side.
