‘The Originals’ spoilers: Joseph Morgan’s new tease reminds us of ‘The Mole’

Has “The Mole” claimed its latest victim on the set of “The Originals”? There is something about this new image to promote the series that vaguely reminds us of the classic reality show. If this show were “The Mole,” we’re pretty sure that it would be Elijah since he’s the smartest of the vampire family, the most shrewd, and he is definitely capable of playing both sides and really manipulating anyone and everyone to get what he wants.

It actually does seem appropriate that the outline of someone shoe print here is glowing red for a few reasons: This is a vampire show (which means that red=blood), and on “The Mole,” a contestant who was eliminated would fall victim to a screen featuring a black-and-red fingerprint. Close enough, right? (This entire post may be an indication of our passion to someday see “The Mole” revived again, just like it was in Australia.)

Reality TV references aside, this photo was tweeted out by series star Joseph Morgan, with the hope here being that everyone remains engaged and interested in what is going on with the show leading up to its premiere in September / October. Filming has not started yet, so it’s hard to really have any scoop to share save for what we already know: Claire Holt’s Rebekah will have a larger role in the series than she did in the pilot, and Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) is not necessarily Klaus’ endgame romance just because she is pregnant with his child.
