‘American Idol’ videos: Jessica Sanchez, Candice Glover patriotic for Memorial Day
When it comes to Candice, her take on the National Anthem was just as exceptional as you would expect. One thing we really liked about it was that she sang it relatively straight, choosing to actually focus on the notes present in the song rather than going crazy on the runs or showing off her range more than the song allows. Sometimes, you have to just celebrate the purity of the note rather than going overboard with any one thing.
As for Jessica, she hit the stage to perform a rousing version of the classic “God Bless America.” She comes from a line of military men courtesy of her father and grandfather, and she has also been one of the more political “American Idol” contestants, backing President Obama despite not even being old enough to vote.
Hopefully, both ladies will get some additional exposure from these performances as they promote their music in the coming year. Jessica’s “Me, You, & the Music” recently hit stores, while Candice’s own debut will arrive in just under two months on July 16.
