‘American Horror Story: Coven’ spoilers: ‘Precious’ star Gabourey Sidibe signs on
The cast of “American Horror Story: Coven” is all about the awards-show acclaim these days. The show already has a pair of Oscar winners in Jessica Lange and Kathy Bates on the cast, and they have now officially announced that a previously-nominated star is joining the group.
According to executive producer Ryan Murphy, Gabourey Sidibe has joined the cast for an unknown role and an unknown episode count. Unfortunately, the only thing that we know right now about her role is that she will be on the show. Sidibe is of course best known for her work in the film “Precious,” but she has also appeared in 30 episodes of Showtime’s dramedy “The Big C,” which is coming to an end this season.
Thus far, this witched-themed season of the FX drama has unveiled a cast that is very female-driven. In addition to Sidibe, Lange, and Bates, Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, and Taissa Farmiga from past seasons of the show have all confirmed to be making another appearance. Thus far, Even Peters is really the only high-profile male actor who has confirmed another kick at the can, and there is another female role out there still in the casting process in Madison.
The new season of “American Horror Story” is getting set to film in New Orleans, which is going to be one of the show’s primary settings. This is the first time that the show is going to really shift from one primary location to many, and we are also going to see a completely different sort of story told.
