‘The Mindy Project’ season 2 spoilers: Mindy Kaling finds a new series regular
If there is one comedy thus far that has certainly went through the wringer, it is Mindy Kaling’s Fox comedy “The Mindy Project.” Despite getting mostly-positive reviews for its pilot, ratings drops and creative discussions behind the scenes have led to there being some major cast shifts already this season. Anna Camp was one of the actors who went from being a regular to recurring, and some new regulars were added to the cast. While it took some time, the show really seemed to find its footing near the end of this season, even after the show was picked up for another season.
Now, we’ve found out some early details about the upcoming second go-around. According to Deadline, promising young actress Xosha Roquemore has joined the cast permanently after a three-episode arc that took place during this season. This means that we will see slightly different stories play out than during this season, and hopefully some more consistency to go along with it.
Roquemore was originally booked to do a multi-episode arc on the upcoming TV Land comedy series starring Kirstie Alley, but she has been allowed to leave this gig in order to join “The Mindy Project.” Her role there will be recast, as Alley’s show looks to prepare for its first season on the air. (Kirstie re-entered the public eye courtesy of a stint on “Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars” late last year.)
