NBC’s ‘The Office’ series finale: John Krasinki, Jenna Fischer, more to visit Scranton
If you ever want to see just how grateful some of the cast members of “The Office” are to the show that helped turn them into stars, all you have to do is visit their respective Twitter accounts. The show put Steve Carell on the map more so than any other job, launched John Krasinski’s career in many ways, and served as a great showcase for comedic talents including B.J. Novak, Kate Flannery, and Catherine Tate.
Now, the cast is all finding a way to give back to the town that served as the setting for the Dunder-Mifflin office in Scranton, Pennsylvania. According to the local paper the Times-Tribune, there is going to be a plethora of major events taking place in the city on Saturday, May 4, including a parade, Q&A sessions, bloopers, and even a sneak peek at the show’s final episode airing later in the month. (You can read more information on how to attend here.)
Since the show films in Los Angeles, this is the first visit to the city for some of the show’s cast members. Some of the actors currently booked include Krasinski (Jim), Jenna Fishcer (Pam), Flannery (Meredith), Brian Baumgartner (Kevin), Creed Bratton (Creed), Ellie Kempse (Erin), Rainn Wilson (Dwight), Oscar Nunez (Oscar), Phyllis Smith (Phyllis), Paul Lieberstein (Toby), and Andy Buckley (David Wallace). There are more cast members still to be confirmed in the coming days, but this alone is a pretty impressive array of people who have long been a part of the show’s success.
There is also something incredibly fun / meta about this story from the Times-Tribune; the author of the wrap party story, Josh McAuliffe, was actually “slammed” by Dwight Shrute with a hilariously-bad claim that someone who worked for a newspaper obviously had no understanding at all of the paper industry.
How awesome do you think it is that “the Office” is giving back in some way to the town that housed their fictional company? If you want to read our full review of this past new episode, you can do so over at the link here.
