‘Supernatural’ season 8 spoilers: First look at Metatron!

MetatronAs we near the end of “Supernatural” season 8, we are going to see some pretty important faces turn up in the context of the tablet story; and with that in mind, we’re finally going to see Metatron for the first time beginning in the May 1 episode entitled “The Great Escapist.”

This character, played by “Revenge of the Nerds” actor Curtis Armstrong, is going to have a pretty significant role in that he is an ancient angel who works alongside God as his scribe. However, how this man seemingly forgotten who he is somewhere along the way? The photo attached here just feels strange, mostly because you never expect someone described as having such a close relationship to God to be holding a gun while pointing it in the direction of one of the Winchester brothers.

Sam and Dean are going to have their work cut out for them, as they will be desperately seeking the information in this hour necessary to not only solve the tablet mystery once and for all, but to save Kevin from his current state of disarray. Meanwhile, Misha Collins will also be returning this week as Castiel, and will try to break free of some of the power that Naomi has been holding over him for most of the season.

After this episode, there are only going to be two more left, so let’s hope that whatever role Metatron plays here will help the Winchesters out, and do so quickly enough that they can succeed wiping their hands clean of the trials.
