‘Dexter’ season 8 spoilers: Jennifer Carpenter’s Deb on edge in shared trailer
It may have taken several weeks following the start of production for it to happen, but fans of “Dexter” finally have a reason to cheer in celebration: Showtime has just released some of the first actual footage for the upcoming eighth season of the show. Thus far, their promos for the return of the serial killer have either just contained highlights of the season before or various graphic images; but this time around, we have an opportunity to see that Deb may be on a warpath.
In the time spent following the death of Maria LaGuerta, it appears as though Dexter and Deb have formulated different philosophies about their lives. In the case of Michael C. Hall’s character, he feels as though the police captain’s death has solved all of his problems. He can no go back to raising his son, and no longer has to worry about someone hunting him down at every turn.
However, Jennifer Carpenter’s lieutenant is clearly starting to be remorseful of the fact that she did not kill Dexter instead of LaGuerta in the infamous shipping container, and seems almost as though those creepy feelings of love that she once had are now completely gone. For those who hated this pairing, that has to be pretty good news … but the thought of an angry Deb means that Dexter really has a problem in that she could start to become willing to turn him in, even at the expense of her own career.
This trailer also contains footage of “Ray Donovan,” the new series premiering after “Dexter” on June 30.
What do you think about this promo, and do you take this as a sign that Deb is going to start getting to Dexter like never before? If you want to see what Yvonne Strahovski has to say about the idea of doing a Hannah McKay spin-off show, be sure to check out the story here.
