‘Mad Men’ season 6, episode 3 preview: Who is Don Draper waiting for?

If there is one thing that you can say about “Mad Men” beyond the shadow of a doubt, it is that this is a rather hard show to get anything on when it comes to specific scoop. Instead, we’re left more to speculate about such things as two-second scenes in a promo, or a new photo that you can see to the left.

So who is Don Draper having dinner with? This is a question that is clearly being teased just with this photo’s release. The table is clearly set for someone else to be there, and Jon Hamm’s character has some sort of quizzical look on his face, almost as if he is either in deep thought, or someone just got up and left the table without him having any idea at all as to why.

While a dinner table may not be a mysterious setting to some, for Don it clearly is. After all, this is a spot where he has negotiated business deals, played the part of perfect husband or supportive co-worker, or merely bared witness to part of his world crashing down before his eyes. Based on his own feelings of shame about his affair at the end of the premiere, we have a hard time believing that he has brought Linda Cardellini out somewhere.

No matter who he is with, though, there is one thing that is easy to say about Don through this picture: he’s clearly not too happy. (Then again, how often is it that we actually see him smile?)
