NBC’s ‘Community’ season 4 spoilers: First look at Jim Rash-penned episode
When you have an Oscar-winning writer working as a part of your show, it only makes sense that you would try to take advantage of that. With that in mind, we are definitely looking forward to the April 25 episode of “Community,” as it marks an opportunity to see the world of Greendale through Jim Rash’s creative eyes.
This episode is reportedly titled “Basic Human Anatomy,” and it may be one of the two episodes shot following the departure of Chevy Chase from the show. (We know that he will appear during the finale, as it was actually shot a little earlier in production.) The official synopsis for Rash’s episode does not mention Pierce, but it does give another older class member some screen time in a pretty interesting fashion. Not only that, but the entire Troy / Abed storyline seems to be taken from “Freaky Friday,” and the whole body-swap troupe is certainly something that Abed would appreciate:
“When Annie (Alison Brie) and Shirley (Yvette Nicole Brown) learn that Leonard (Richard Erdman) is actually holding the spot as the class valedictorian, they join forces to bring him down. Meanwhile, Troy (Donald Glover) and Abed (Danny Pudi) reminisce about one of their favorite body switching films and when they inadvertently re-enact a critical scene, things start becoming a little funky at Greendale.”
You can tell based on this synopsis alone that Rash is hardly a selfish writer; while he would have had every opportunity in the world here to make this episode all about Dean Pelton more so than anyone else, he seems more intent on spreading the wealth among everyone in the cast.
