‘Glee’ season 4, episode 17 review: Are Rachel and Brody finally done?
If we were to take any sort of life lessons from “Glee” this week, it’s that anyone with the last name “Brown” is awful, Radiohead is something people are ashamed to like, and that Kitty is suddenly ready to start caring about people. “Guilty Pleasures” was a strange hour of television, but it was one that brought us some key movement in a few of our characters’ stories.
The most obvious one is that Brody and Rachel are gone, which means that hopefully Dean Geyer can now move forward with his life without people flaming him anymore. We’ve already said that we feel pretty bad for the flak the guy has received just for playing a slimy character, and we’re not even going to sit here and judge the character for why he picked up his “side job.” However, it was pretty awful for him to date Rachel while doing that, and no matter what he may throw back at her, it’s far more awful than anything she lied about (though sleeping with Finn is also pretty bad). The truth is just that neither one of them were mature or comfortable enough for the relationship, and Santana may have some brownie points for outing it.
Speaking of outing, Blaine’s feelings for Sam are pretty much in the open, but it was nice and refreshing to see that Sam really didn’t care at all. While he’s not interested in Blaine by any means (sorry, shipper fans), it was a nice change to have sexuality not be a big deal. Plus, they got to sing Wham! together in what had to be our favorite guilty pleasure performance of the entire night.
Overall, what did you think about this episode of “Glee”? We don’t necessarily like how characters randomly disappear from the glee club all the time and that everyone has the “flu,” but this is probably for budget reasons.

Hopefully Brody never returns.
