‘Dexter’ season 8 spoilers: Jennifer Carpenter talks ‘intimidating’ day on set
So what is on the table for “Dexter” season 8 next? (Rim shot.) In taking a serious turn here, it looks like we are on the cusp of seeing even more great work from Jennifer Carpenter as Deb.
Following a season where she arguably gave an Emmy-worthy performance as her character learned that Dexter was a serial killer, and then ended up being the one to pull the trigger on her former boss Maria LaGuerta right when she was about to expose him and her for everything, it seems as though things are only going to go from bad to worse for one of Miami Metro’s finest. In a new post on her Twitter account this week, Carpenter (who has been rather kind throughout production thus far with various teasers) had the following to say:
“100% my most challenging day on Dexter. In my 8 yrs of working here I’ve never been so intimidated by scenes like I am by these. #Itsall4u“
Ultimately, you know that Carpenter wouldn’t be saying this if her storyline was all sunshine and rainbows. This is an indication that she is going through some pretty rough stuff.
Is there any way that Deb can really be redeemed at this point? We’re not quite sure, as she has gone in this series from a straight-laced cop to a detective with a moral gray area to now a cold-blooded killer in her own right. Regardless of her motivation being to protect the brother she loved and to keep him from living a life behind bars, a kill is still a kill. (When you aren’t Dexter, Harry’s code does not so much apply.)
What sort of developments do you imagine happening for Deb that would inspire Carpenter to post this? We want to hear from you below, and you can check out some new “Dexter” season 8 set photos over at the link here.
