‘Ben and Kate’s’ Nat Faxon to work alongside ‘Criminal Minds’ alum in ‘Spy’ pilot
Multiple sources have confirmed that Faxon, who is actually an Academy Award winner for his part in writing “The Descendants” (alongside Alexander Payne and “Community’s” Jim Rash), is going to be playing a potentially-recurring role on the new ABC comedy “Spy,” which features Rob Corddry in the leading role of a nice guy who joins the Secret Service in order to prove something to his son. This character’s name is Tim, and Ken Jeong (who stars on “Community”) as Chang will play his boss.
So how does Faxon factor into the picture here? Basically, he will be playing the role of Alan, the new boyfriend for Tim’s ex-wife (played “Criminal Minds” alum Paget Brewster). The show is loosely based on the UK comedy series of the same name, and you have to believe that there is some serious potential here for good laughs. As for whether or not it gets renewed, that is a completely different story. Corddry has not had much luck leading large-scale projects, and the “Ben and Kate” ratings more or less spoke for themselves.
If “Spy” is picked up to series, the earliest it can air is in the fall.
What do you think about the casting for the series so far? If you want to see what Dakota Johnson, who plays Kate on this series, is going to be appearing in next, you can do so over at the link here.
