Kyle MacLahlan goes from ‘How I Met Your Mother’ and ‘The Good Wife’ to new pilot

NBC Logo2013 is turning out to be a rather busy year for one Kyle MacLachlan. The “Twin Peaks” alum, who is made guest appearances over the years on everything from “Desperate Housewives” to “Sex and the City,” has spent time recently on both a comedy (“How I Met Your Mother”) as well as a drama (“The Good Wife”). Now, he looks to be returning to series work yet again following a job on the failed pilot “Made in Jersey.”

According to TVLine, MacLachlan has signed on to the upcoming NBC series “Believe” (which you can read more about here) as a mysterious billionaire who is operating with a secret agenda in mind. This show is coming to us courtesy of Alfonso Cuaron and J.J. Abrams, which basically makes the actor this show’s version of Charles Widmore. This show is very much NBC’s attempt to further capitalize on the serialized drama kick that it received when “Revolution” started this past fall. That show started with some enormous ratings, but has since struggled to maintain its audience due in part to sagging quality and for frustrating storylines.

A decision on “Believe” will likely not be made until May, and luckily the network should have some spots open. “Smash” is nearly a lock for cancellation along with “Deception,” and “Do No Harm” has already been sent to the TV graveyard. When it comes to comedies, the current state of the network is even more of a bloodbath.

Do you like the casting of MacLachlan playing yet another wealthy character, especially after his take on the absurd captain on “How I Met Your Mother”? If you want to read even more news when it comes to this show, you can do so by heading on over to the link here.
