‘Saturday Night Live’: Kevin Hart to host March 2 show; Macklemore to perform

During this weekend’s edition of “Saturday Night Live” hosted by Christoph Waltz, NBC chose to lift the lid on who will be the host of their next show March 2. The great news? After a few straight weeks of either singers or movie stars, the show is going back to having a stand-up comedian in charge for the first time since Martin Short took on the duties for the Christmas broadcast..

For this show, comedian Kevin Hart is going to take on the hosting duties for the first time, and just based on his back catalog alone, there is some great potential for serious laughs here. There was actually a petition that started up on Facebook last year to make this happen, but it did not draw anywhere near the same sort of traction as the movement to get Betty White on the series a number of years ago.

Hart has worked hard on his craft for several years now, but it is really within the last two years that his star has risen almost exponentially thanks to some stand-up specials and his most-recent effort on BET: “The Real Househusbands of Hollywood.” (Ironically, this is actually a better show than most of the “Real Housewives” series.)

To make matters even more exciting, the musical guest is going to be a pair who are tearing up the charts: Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, the makers behind “Thrift Shop.” (They will likely perform this song and one more.)
