‘Downton Abbey’ season 4: Hugh Bonneville adopts strict no-spoilers policy

Downton AbbeyEven though “Downton Abbey” season 4 is already into production, there is not much you are going to be hearing about the show via its extremely closed set. Why? If you think about it, there are really a number of reasons why the clamps are on. For one, it’s never nice (ask people in America) to know about some of the shocking events in advance, and even a few innocuous details can lead to potential viewers putting two and two together. Plus, there is also another important detail to remember here: even though some fans in Britain and even America may already know every event of season 3, others do not; as a matter of fact, in some countries the third and even second seasons of the show have not premiered.

All of this was addressed in a recent post by series star and frequent tweeter Hugh Bonneville, who responded to a series of posts asking for plot details on the new scripts with the following message:

“V sorry but I won’t comment on past or future storylines of#DowntonAbbey. Some tweeps are still on S1 #nospoilers

While we will try to have some teasers here on season 4 throughout the production process, don’t expect there to be any major bombshells dropped. There is, after all, something beautiful about seeing something on TV that comes as a complete and total surprise. For those of you who watched a certain season 3 episode unspoiled, you certainly know one such event already that I am talking about. There is a difference between being informed and spoiled, and that is a fine line in which we walk here. (This is why we try to start off articles with warnings in case you are behind the British airings of the show.)

“Downton Abbey” season 4 will begin airing on ITV in the fall, and will likely return to America once again in January. If you want to see a rare new interview with series star Maggie Smith, you can do so by venturing over to the link here.
