‘The X Factor’ USA / UK notes: Cher Lloyd, Carly Rose Sonenclar, Olly Murs

For this “X Factor” notes, we have quite a bit to talk about from a music video standpoint, as well as a contestant fresh off the American version of the show heading back to Los Angeles for the first time since ending her time on the series.

The music videos – If you love watching videos, you’ll find the following two clips to be a treat courtesy of some former “X Factor” UK contestants. First, we have Cher Lloyd’s new clip for the American version of “With Ur Love.” It’s so interesting to see the promotional strategy that Simon Cowell has utilized for Cher over the past year or so: a different video featuring Mike Posner was actually released in Britain to this song over a year ago (which you can also see below), but he obviously, like with “Want U Back,” wanted to give her a chance to launch something new stateside.

Overall, this is a pretty fun video, but where’s Juicy J, considering that he is a part of the single? We also may prefer the British video just because we love all of the balloons.

Next, we turn to Olly Murs and his new video for “Army of Two.” Having yourself appear multiple times within the same frame is hardly a new technique, but we like the way in which it’s done here. Olly’s got that rare talent of exuding both class and humor at the same time, and he pulls that off here.

With that being said, how long is this parking garage that Olly seems to be in?

As for Carly Rone Sonenclar, there’s no music video news to share. However, she did reveal on her Twitter this week that she is going out to California when she has a break from school in the weeks ahead. What does this mean? It’s certainly good news from the standpoint of her getting more opportunities to have face-to-face meetings with folks in the recording industry.

It’hard to tell just what may be holding up an announcement on Carly’s record deal, especially since this is something we considered to be a lock back when she was on the show. Last we heard, and and her people were in talks with Syco … so we’ll just have to wait and see what develops.
