‘American Idol’ notes: Jessica Sanchez, Phillip Phillips, Carrie Underwood
Happy almost-Valentine’s Day, everyone! For “American Idol” fans, February 14 this year means a little bit more than the average person. Not only is there going to be a new episode of the Fox singing competition airing Thursday night, but Jessica Sanchez will be performing her first solo concert in the Philippines alongside her fellow former contestant Colton Dixon as an opening act. Hopefully, this will be an opportunity for us to hear some more of her new music … and thanks to the time difference between the two countries, we should have videos to share for it by tomorrow morning.
For now, let’s just share a performance Sanchez gave earlier this week at the “Jump In” bash in Manila. The song, which is also entitled “Jump In,” was a collaboration she did in the country with apl.de.ap of The Black Eyed Peas. We have not received any indication that this song will actually be in the debut album, but it was recently in the Philippines late last year.
Phillip speaks out – In talking about another season 10 star, Phillip Phillips recently told a Hot 107.9 interviewer that his music video for second single “Gone, Gone, Gone” should be out on Friday. Reason to be excited? Definitely. Phillip’s new single is starting to pick up steam on the radio, and while it will have a hard time matching the enormous sucess of “Home” last year, it is now in the top 40 of the Hot AC chart. Mostly importantly, it is actually gaining a little bit faster in spins than “Home” first did.
The making of Carrie Underwood’s Grammy dress – For those of you who love both music and fashion, you’ll really appreciate this video, set to Carrie Underwood’s “Two Black Cadillacs,” that shows how her Grammy gown went from conception to actually making it to the awards show on Sunday night.

When it comes to Jessica Sanchez why do these american idol notes even exist. For Jessica fans what we want is her and her music not a bunch of yesterdays news about her. That and a bunch of phony release dates of her music is all I see. It has been 10 months since AI season 11 ended. We read she’s been signed by Interscope 9 months ago and still nothing. I am beginning to think signing with Interscope was a mistake for her. By the time we get anything from her it will be a year from season 11 finals if then. Two of the top 10 already have released albums; by the time Jessica’s music is heard people will have to be reintroduced to her. It is past time. No more fake release dates for her music give us Jessica.

It all depends on promotion. His “Home” was a big hit because the American Idol producers went all out to promote it starting as early as the finals when Phillips sang it.
His new single can match its succes if given the same efforts by the producers.
And don’t forget why Jessica Sanchez’s song did pick up enough fans. Blame the producers, not this very talented young singer.
