‘Glee’ season 4: Aftermath to Will – Emma wedding to air after long ‘American Idol’
For one night in early March, Fox is going to become a little bit more like some of its other broadcast rivals … at least when it comes to how long the network is on the air for its primetime lineup.
In a move to ensure that the first “American Idol” result show of the year has the time necessary in order to reveal the top ten (or top 12, if the decision is made to add some wild cards), the Thursday, March 7 results show will be expanded to an hour and a half. This is only a surprise when you consider that this season of the singing show has not been a ratings powerhouse, and airing “Glee” at an unusual time could ultimately lead to the show taking a little bit of a ratings hit.
In talking about “Glee,” the episode that will be airing here is “Girls (and Boys) on Film,” which is the first installment following the wedding of Will and Emma on Thursday night. This episode marks the return of the always-popular mash-up competition, though on this occasion we will see the characters performing the songs of the movies. On the surface, it feels a little bit like filler much in the way that “Dynamic Duets” was, but there is something else particularly notable about it: the hour will feature the show’s 500th musical performance in the classic “Shout” (which is really going to be a hard song for the show to put any sort of original twist on at all).
