‘Homeland’ season 3: Alex Gansa, Howard Gordon just got a little bit busier

Remember how we said this weekend that Michael Cuesta was the only “Homeland” executive producer to have a pilot order out? Well, that lasted all of about 36 hours.

Multiple sources are now confirming that CBS has officially ordered a pilot for “Anatomy of Violence,” which is a show executive-produced by Howard Gordon, Alex Gansa, and Alex Cary of the Showtime drama. There is not too much known about the series at this very moment, with the exception that it is centered around an expert in criminal psychology who ends up partnering with a female detective that he has some sort of past history with. So really, this seems to us like a combination of “Castle,” “Criminal Minds,” and even the short-lived “Animal Practice” (sans the animals) when it comes to the relationship between the two main characters.

So should “Homeland” fans feel good or bad about this news? Ultimately, we don’t see it making any dent in the quality of the series at all? Both shows will have dedicated staffs who ensure that they are as fantastic as humanly possible, and it was silly to think that Gansa, Gordon, and Cary were only working on this one project to begin with even while “Homeland” season 2 was in development. Writing for “Homeland” season 3 has already begun, with filming starting up around the same time in May that we will find out whether or not CBS chooses to order this new pilot to series.
