NBC’s ‘Revolution’ hilariously mocks Super Bowl blackout
Let this be a lesson for all future advertisers: watch the Super Bowl, and then use social media to quickly capitalize on something eventful that happens. When the power went out in half of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome during Super XLVII on Sunday night, the folks over at NBC’s “Revolution” (a show that knows all about blackouts) quickly chose to spring into action.
Only a matter of minutes after the blackout (which lasted for around half an hour) first happened, the show’s official Twitter account started things off by posting the following message:
“Just a taste of what’s to come on March 25. #LightsOut #Revolution“
In following this up, the account then posted the picture attached here. Ultimately, it’s pretty easy to tell just why this is such a brilliant idea. With the nature of the show being all about a massive power outage, there are constantly opportunities that the show has in order to promote itself; and with it not being back on the for almost two full months, it really has to take advantage of these pretty much at every opportunity it can.
At this point, NBC is probably rocking back and forth in the fetal position waiting for “The Voice” and “Revolution” to return. New drama “Deception” has turned out to be a pretty massive dud in its timeslot, and many of the other shows on the lineup (“Go On,” “The New Normal”) have faltered without the singing competition as a lead-in.
How smart of an idea do you think that it was for NBC to jump all over this? If you want to read some of the latest “Revolution” casting news, you can do so by heading on over to the link here.
