‘Dancing with the Stars’ rumors: Tom Bergeron wants William Shatner
While the rumor mill has been a little quieter during this “Dancing with the Stars” casting season than in years past (possibly due to the show’s dropping ratings), there are still some new names floating around out there … including a man who has a certain amount of sci-fi prestige (in addition to a great sense of humor).
In a brand-new post on his Twitter page, show host, Emmy-winner, and all-around incredible guy Tom Bergeron announced that he is openly campaigning for none other than 81-year old “Star Trek” actor William Shatner to make an appearance on the show this season:
“Just gave @WilliamShatner a shout out while taping Friday’s @theviewtv. Still want you to do DWTS, Bill!”
As for whether or not Shatner would ever actually appear on the show, he did not fully deny interest … but it also sounds like he is well aware of the fact that he would not do very well if he were to take part in the show:
“Thank you for the shout out on@theviewtv DWTS’s??? I think my speed is more like AFV! Stay in touch though. My best, Bill”
Just in case you want to watch the full interview below, you can hear Bergeron around the 3:30 mark start to talk about why he wanted Shatner on the show in the first place. He also said that he is not so much into casting the controversial contestants, mostly because he feels as thought heir impact is diminished if they are on every season.
