‘Entourage’ movie a go, talks start with Jeremy Piven and the cast
For those of you who did not get enough of “Entourage” during its time on HBO, the following story will probably be very good news to you. Like with “Sex and the City” before it, the one-time hit series is getting made into a movie. According to a report from Deadline, the movie has not only been officially greenlit, but show creator Doug Ellin has already written the screenplay for the episode, but he is also going to be jumping into the director’s chair to go along with it.
So what cast members from the show are set to appear? While nobody has been confirmed to be appearing just yet, everyone from Adrian Grenier to Jeremy Pevin, Jerry Ferrara, Kevin Connolly, and Kevin Dillon are all in talks to appear. Given that all five characters are enormously important to the success of this show, we have a feeling that Ellin would not have even started the script unless he believed the actors wanted to do it. (Therefore, negotiations will probably be a formality.)
But is an “Entourage” movie going to have the same big-screen impact as “Sex and the City”? For us, we’re not sure since the show really peaked a good bit earlier in its run (season 2) than what Sarah Jessica Parker and company did. As a matter of fact, this ultimately ended up becoming that show that you did not quite even realize was on for us during its latter seasons, at least until it ended with a few episodes that were in a word exciting.
With that in mind, we are genuinely interested in seeing what the prospects are for an “Entourage” movie … though we hope that this does not lead to a non-canon prequel series a la “The Carrie Diaries.”
