‘Dexter’ season 8 spoilers: Meet a new (and very important) character
“Dexter” is wasting no time at all when it comes to their season 8 casting process; as a matter of fact, we have just found out who is going to be playing one of the most important new characters of the season.
According to a new report from Entertainment Weekly, British actress Charlotte Rampling, possibly best known for her role in the 1960s TV classic “The Avengers,” has been cast to play the part of a neuroscientist and criminologist who specializes in dealing with young psychopaths and identifying criminals using unusual methods. It is not clear how many episodes she will appear in, but you have to believe that it will be more than one.
There are a number of ways in which to read Rampling’s character, with one of the more obvious ones being that someone at Miami Metro grows suspicious of Dexter Morgan, and tries to use this woman to help figure him out. (Batista is clearly the only who would be the most concerned based on what he knew LaGuerta was up to before her death.) Is it also possible that she was hired by Dexter himself, but for his son Harrison? Sure, since you have to remember that he has been through some trauma of his own, and the last thing he wants to see is his children impacted traumatically by some of what he went through with Rita’s death and the Doomsday killer trying to take him away.
There are some other characters for the new season that are still being cast, including a potential target for Dexter’s table and a private investigator who could also have been hired to snoop on Dexter. Only time will tell.
We still do not know whether or not this will be “Dexter’s” final season, even though some cast members seem to be leaning towards it being the case for the time being.
