ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 5, episode 12 preview: Esposito asks out [spoiler]

Before Monday night’s new episode of “Castle” season 5 finally arrives, why not take a look just at what is coming up? In addition to the other sneak peeks that we have over at this link for “Death Gone Crazy,” we now have one that shows that Esposito may have found himself an early Valentine’s Day present in the form of a bodyguard for the episode’s victim.

This woman is specifically played by Kelly Hu (“Arrow”), and she seems at least marginally intrigued when Jon Huerta’s character makes his bold move and asks her whether or not she would like to go out to dinner with him after the case is completed. As for what she has to say in response, there are some things that must remain a mystery for a few more hours.

The development that comes out of this that is not shown on the show is rather simple: how this one move may end up impacting the relationship that exists between Lanie and Esposito at the moment. They have carried on a sort of friends-with-benefits thing for some time, but it has been put on the back burner for almost all of the season, really to the point where we don’t even know if she is going to care at all about what he is up to. If she does, however, this could make for some awkward moments at work if things go well between him and Hu’s character.

Being that we’re already invested in Lanie, though, we still expect her to in some ways be the character’s endgame … whenever that may be.
