Ratings: ‘NCIS’ sets season 10 viewer high; ‘New Girl’ hits series low
Let this be a sign to all of those “NCIS” fans who doubted for whatever reason that people wanted to see more of Ziva on the show: you’re wrong. Tuesday night’s much-hyped and powerful episode not only was the most-watched installment of season 10 thus far, but it also was the second-most-watched of the entire series.
Overall, over 22.3 million viewers caught the episode, which did still amount to just a 3.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic (a sign at just how old that the show skews). Nevertheless, these numbers are still impressive, especially when you consider that this is a series with more than 200 episodes in the can that is still finding ways in which to bring people back. Credit executive producer Gary Glasberg, the writers, the actors, and USA for a sweet syndication deal that keeps people watching the show even when new episodes are not on.
This news may actually be the only bright spot on the schedule at the moment. While “Go On” recovered from its disastrous performance without “The Voice” last week in posting a 1.7, this is still a so-so rating at best for the show. Meanwhile, “New Girl” fell to a brand-new low with a 1.9 rating, which is absolutely unacceptable to us given that it may be our favorite comedy on TV at the moment (even if we didn’t care for the primary story last night).
The most of the other ratings for the night were around average, though we should continue to point out that while “Hart of Dixie” drew just a 0.6, it stayed steady from its last airing a month ago and continues to have one of the most-loyal viewerships on The CW. If the network cancels it, they are out of their mind considering how little they spend promoting it. (If you want to read up on Zoe and Wade’s first fight on the show, click here.)
