‘Homeland’ season 3 spoilers: Executive producer promises new start

When “Homeland” season 3 premieres on Showtime on September 29, don’t expect to see the same exact story in the slightest that you saw for much of the past year. As a matter of fact, there will be some stories that you will never even see coming after the show looks to in some ways reboot its storyline, since there is so little left to tell now on Brody and Nazir with the latter dead and the former out of the country.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly in an interview about the early stages of the writing process, executive producer Alex Gansa did his best to explain just how this story is going to be in so many ways different than what the show has presented to us before, while at the same time similar to the transition that the show made between season 1 and season 2:

“It is a little bit of a reset, but it is really promising at the same time. [There will be new characters and stories introduced. For instance, Quinn is an amazing character that had a really slow ramp up but a strong amazing finish.”

Speaking of Quinn, all indications are that Rupert Friend will in fact be back for more … which is a very good thing given that he will have a very interesting response to the terrorist attack given that he killing Brody, regardless of whether or not he felt that his death was justified, would have prevented the deaths of so many other people.

Season 3 will kick off filming in the spring, and while we may know already that Damian Lewis will return, there’s no guarantee that it will be in every episode or what sort of part Nicholas Brody still has left to play.
