‘Glee’ season 4 spoilers: Darren Criss teases upcoming surprise appearance

Who are we about to see coming up on “Glee” season 4? If you hear what Darren Criss is saying now, it is someone fairly significant … at least when it comes to him.

Darren first made the suggestions about an upcoming surprise guest star while at the movie premiere for his co-star Chris Colfer’s new movie “Struck By Lightning” (per a new video from Young Adult Hollywood) and he suggested that this is a person who is probably only going to show up in just one episode, but it could be either someone from his own or from his character of Blaine Anderson’s past:

“There’s somebody that’s going to show up in an episode, that if people know where I come from–this is really insider stuff … Someone’s gonna show up … that’s really great.”

At the moment, the prevailing suggestions are that this person is going to be someone who Criss’ character of Blaine worked with regularly during his days with StarKid, who went viral with such videos as “A Very Potter Musical” prior to the actor joining the show. This would be in some ways similar to when Jonathan Groff (who has an extensive background performing with Lea Michele) coming on the show to play her boyfriend; it is not necessarily something that every single person out there would notice, but it would serve as a nice little Easter egg to some diehard fans. We already know, after all, that Ryan Murphy likes to put these subtle little winks to other properties in his work.
