‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 8, episode 13 preview: Barney and Robin celebrate

Monday night’s new “How I Met Your Mother” season 8 episode is going to be the first one featuring Barney and Robin as a newly-engaged couple, and with that in mind, we are going to be seeing something certainly known as growing pains. Barney is used to living his life a certain way … so how does he handle it now being not just with one woman, but engaged to her for the rest of his life?

As the promo for Monday night’s “Band, or DJ?” hilariously shows, Barney is still occasionally having lapses where he realizes that he has locked himself in for life with one woman, but then remembers that this is the one woman that he loves more than anyone else. Ted will be assisting in the wedding planning by meddling in every little detail (no surprise), and Barney will refer to Robin’s father (Ray Wise) as basically a vampire walking around in the daylight. Doesn’t this sound like a great wedding already?

The fact that these two are already talking about their big day means to us that we are getting closer than ever to finding a little bit of closure with the show, largely since this same wedding day is the one where Ted ends up actually meeting the Mother. With that in mind, the light at the end of the tunnel has never been clearer for a big moment that has been so many years in the making. We don’t know if it is even going to be remotely possible that it will live up to expectations, but we are happy just to see them trying.
