‘American Idol’ notes: Jessica Sanchez’s new cover, Phillip Phillips on ‘NML’

For this edition of “American Idol” notes, we’re placing the focus entirely on a pair of singers who graced the stage just this past year in Jessica Sanchez and Phillip Phillips. We’ll start things off with a little bit of music; and then, we’ll dive a little into the world of fashion. (We’ll let you guess here just who matches up with what when it comes to these news items.)

We’ll begin here with Phillip’s performance on “NewMusicLive,” which you may have seen low-quality versions of already. The show, taped from Toronto late last month, actually aired on MuchMusic yesterday (which kind of takes the “live” part straight out of the title), and he performed a set of his two singles in “Home” along with his new “Gone, Gone, Gone.” (We hope that he speeds up the latter a little bit on future performances.)

Jessica covers Mega – This is Jessica Sanchez’s first cover, and of course it only makes sense that it would be for a magazine in the Philippines, where she is already an enormous star. Within the issues of the pages she reportedly talks about her life now following “American Idol,” and also what some of her plans are for the new year. We know that her album is scheduled to come out tentatively at some point next month, but save for “Fairytale” (which she performed at some concert dates over the summer), we have yet to hear any new original material from her.

Jessica will also be back in the Philippines next month for a new concert, which will actually be taking place on Valentine’s Day.
