‘Dexter’ season 8: How will [spoiler] impact Dexter, Deb moving forward?
Let’s start this “Dexter” article out with a massive warning: if you have not watched the season 7 finale for the show yet, you really need to walk away from this article right now. Trust us, you’ll be much happier that you did.
If you are still reading, we’re assuming that you are still trying your best to process what just went down on tonight’s episode, and with that in mind we will do just about everything we can to help. Let’s begin with this simple question: where in the world does the show go from here? Deb was the one to pull the trigger on LaGuerta, and thus killed her rather than sending her brother to an early grave over what he was going to do to LaGuerta. As executive producer Scott Buck explains in the video below, this puts Jennifer Carpenter’s character in a rather delicate position moving forward: as he puts it, “it forever bonds them together in tragedy … It takes them to a place that they have never been before.”
Buck also adds that it was important for the writers to paint Dexter here as an actual “serial killer,” and not just a superhero who takes down people who do bad things. LaGuerta does not even remotely fit the Code, and this makes him no different ultimately than Hannah (who is seemingly now back out on the run after surviving the finale and escaping from police custody).
While season 8 is still in the writing stages, Buck explained that we are going to get more of a glimpse into the man Dexter is, in addition to the killer he is now:
“What I’m finding interesting about season 8 is that we’ll be able to explore his origin. We’ll be able to see new parts of Dexter that we did not know before existed.”
One final dish from the video to share: the reaction shots by Deb to shooting LaGuerta were all unscripted, and it just proves yet again how fantastic and Emmy-worthy Carpenter has been all season long. This is why she is one of our picks for Best Dramatic Actor of 2012.
What do you want to see happen next season? Be sure to share some of your thoughts below!

Season Eight
January 26, 2013 @ 5:39 pm
I think that season eight will go like this.
Debra and Dex are questioned about the murder of laguerta because of the bullet of Debra’s gun and maybe get arrested or something like that or Dexter covered it all up like it never happend and laguerta left “town” (not likely).
but first Dexter comes home after the party and finds the flowers and he knows that hannah is on the run.
I have a feeling that Lumen will return for a few episodes.
the show ends with Debra commiting suicide (like Harry) or she will go live with dexter or she will get another job/life
Dexter goes in the middle of the season or final episode to Argentina to find Hannah and they are both on the run.
I really want it to be 30 of June.

Bp.Mac what you saw in the courthouse scene was Hannah’s friend giving her a drug to cause her seizure etc. so she could escape.

Bp.Mac, Hannah’s friend slipped her something, not the other way around and the something was whatever she took to send herself into convulsions and get sent to the hospital where she could ultimately escape you bonehead. Did you watch the episode?

Some of these comments are comical! It is amazing what people think happened! Some of you need to watch again, very closely, then make comments.

Everyone here hoping for a happy ending are likely to be disappointed. The entire show is based on tragedy, and dexter’s been getting really sloppy lately (how does he go after Estrada immediately after his releas with laGuerta’s buddy questioning hi the day before?
My thought is that he will be outed somehow. Especially since the 3 of them conveniently missed the party the same night LaGuerta dies (and after she very formally announced her accusations for Dex). I’m thinking he’ll likely die, but it may be more interesting to see him in custody. Then you see people’s reaction to everything, and questioning, etc. the final scene: Dex dying/dead with a smug look on his face with some sort of monologue. What happens in between I don’t know, and don’t want to know.

I for one, would love the final scene to be with Dex and Hannah going out in a Bonnie & Clyde kinda way. That would we an iconic way to end one of the greatest shows ever!

my point is lumen explained why she was leaving and announced that she was leaving. its not like she just never came back and they pretended she never existed. they addressed it hence it not being a loose end.
ana
December 17, 2012 @ 11:53 pm
lumen’s not really a loose end. they’ve made it pretty clear she’s keeping the secret to herself especially since she participated in a kill as well. she left without a dark passenger and disappeared forever. a loose end is more like the fact that quinn basically knows dexter’s a criminal of some sort and has seemed to have forgotten about it.

@bpmac you’re wrong. hannahs friend was the one who handed her something and it was somesort of flower or plant to make her have that seizure that way she can get to the hospital and escape easier. it was some leaves or something like that which she stuffed into her mouth while pretending to cry.

I’m thinking Hannah shouldn’t come back.. the way they ended it with her was good, she left her parting gift, she isnt in prison so there will be no communication/visits and hopfully she ran away to argentina.. I think her coming back in season 8 is just going to keep stringing along this fairy tale of this forbidden and untrusting love – as much as I’d love to see dexter in love and happy with someone i think that relationship has gotten too messy. As for how it ends… i couldn’t bear seeing dexter die! I don’t even want the show/story to ever end!

A wild guess I think it will end with little Harrison in a pool of blood, the blood of his father. Debra will raise Harrison and teach Harry’s code. I must admit Iam a fan of serie of Dexter but i cant figure out a end that would suit the rest of this great serie. The end off season 7 is a real twist ( maybe a bad choice to start a believebel end).. Cant wait. Bye, fan from Holland ^^ sorry for my bad English, but you try Dutch ;-)

Here’s my SEASON 8 Predictions:
The season will start off showing Dex and Deb covering up Laguerta’s murder. Since Dex used Laguerta’s gun to shoot Estrada, and Debra shot Laguerta to protect her brother- it will seem like Laguerta shot Estrada and Debra shot Laguerta to stop her . . . and “accidentally” killed her – explaining both murders. Dexter will place the bodies appropriately to fit the crime scene and will concur his sisters story.
A few more things:
1) They will have to get rid of the CD in Laguerta’s possession showing Debra at the gas station the night Travis Marshall died at the church.
2) They will have to get rid of the papers signed by a JUDGE to subpoena Deb and Dex’s phone call records the night the church burnt down.
3) Batista will not retire now that Laguerta’s dead. He will be called back in the force to be put in charge of handling her assignments temporarily. Batista will eventually discover that a Judge signed papers for Dex and Deb’s phone records and will encourage a suspicion that force him to look into Laguerta’s death as a suicide.
5) Hannah will be back to finish the job on Debra. When she was convicted in court, she handed her friend something like a key (probably to Dex’s place) before they took her away. This happened when her friend staged a crying scene and hugged her – it was quick so watch the episode again.
Hannah will have her friend help her and she will go after Debra for satisfaction and to hurt Dex. Dex will have to finish her making Hannah’s kill a tribute to Debra. Debra may also participate in the bloody bond fiesta.
Hannah will leave some clues before she eventually dies (probably by season 2 or 3). Batista will follow those clues.
Season 8 will be about Batista finding out things about Deb & Dex that will surprise him. He may enroll Quinn and find out some of his “dirty” ways as well. Batista will also question the department in general not trusting of anyone due to dark secrets.
Dex will protect Debra at any cost. The season will end with Debra moving on to another job (the “accidental” death of Laguerta) will always weigh on her that she will be forced to move out of the line of work and do something different. Dex will take Harrison and start over somewhere new, moving on as well. He will not be on the run, but he will resign from his job and take some time off maybe sail around with Harrison or travel the world for a bit in search of a new “home”.

Please don’t forget hannah , she has been an awesome character that can’t be forgotten. I would really put her as one of the most important during the next season.

Hannah will kill Deb in the end, and dexter will then put an end to Hannah… very predicable ending. Show time better not follow this path.

I am one of the biggest DEXTER fans on the planet and having seen every episode I can tell you without a doubt that this should end with Deb and Dexter getting together for real. They’re both cold blooded killers now and Deb now has a “Shady Silhouette” to match Dexter’s “Dark Passenger”, don’t you agree?
The escape of Hannah makes it also a possibility that they’ll get together next season and “escape” to some foreign country and travel the world on killing sprees much like the book ending of “HANNIBAL” – so there’s yet ANOTHER possibility.
Either way, Dexter should NOT BE CAPTURED OR KILLED – I will be SO upset if that happens! Share your opinions with me on my Facebook page linked above.

Sorry to say, but Dexter was going to break the code by killing LaGuerta. Not only that, but he dragged Deb into committing a crime that she will never forgive her self for committing it. LaGuerta was innocent and held the truth. She was just doing her job. She did not deserve to die. Deb on the other hand is not a criminal but an honest and dedicate cop who was caught up in Dexter’s Dark World, until now that is. I love the show as long as Dexter follows the code because I felt that he was doing the right thing and he was serving justice. I think that Hannah should kill Deb; Dexter should kill Hannah and commit suicide leaving Harrison on the last screen shot, having us wondering if he too have his father’s “Dark Passenger”. That would be an acceptable ending to the show. Serial Killers are not super heroes, not at all. Unless the follow Dexter’s code.

I want to see Deb knocked off. Once she told Dexter she was in love with him; that was too disgusting!! I really like Dexter and Hannah together.; or even better have Lumen come back. Lumen was a basically good person and she knew about Dexter’s killings.

The only way to end the series is Dexter being that. I hope he gets what he actually deserves. Trial, and death sentence. I have imagined the last episode for so long in my head. The whole Homocide division behind glass, and Dexter getting a lethal injection while you hear a monologue about the differences between good and bad. And a final shot of Dexter giving the camera his famous smile.

Some fans want the entertainment without the hidden and underlying life lessons. Some fans expect the show to follow some set of principles that can explain scenes. Some fans want a seamless and intricate weave of both.
Thanks, guys – it’s a good show.

Ha, I knew it was going to happen this way but thought it would of been in season 8. Also Hannah escaping what threw me off, I thought she would die in this finale.

Dexter needs to die, its the only way that people can accept its the end of Dexter. Happy endings are nice but in the long run are unsatisfying. Either Deb has to kill him or he kills himself on his table…. That would be incredible, but to do that he would have to lose everything. Hannah, Harrison and Deb would all have to fall for him to kill himself. The likelihood of all of these characters dying next series is slim. So Deb to kill Dex.

I think a good ending would be for Dexter to get caught and sent to prison. Then some how is shows prisoners disappearing and they can’t figure out why, ending with a smile from Dexter now having endless victims.
